Small counterbalanced height gages ? Trimos the only one ?

Trimos Mini Height seems to be the only "move it around the shop with one arm" size digitial height gage I've ever encountered with counterbalance and ball bearings for the head (i.e. just touch head and it "floats" effortlessly up and down).

Have there been any others in the past ? Starrett for example made a seriously heavy duty digital gage in the same price range ($4,000+), but looking at old catalog photos the column doesn't appear large enough to contain a counterblance weight...or did it ? The Trimos Mini Height (TVM 300 or 600) also seems to be the only counterbalanced digital height gage with convenient scribing possiblities as well...but here again, is it really the only one ?

To those mystified by why this matters.... once you've used a counterbalanced one, the standard type seem pretty slow and crude by comparison. And I'm curious as I'm looking to buy another Trimos Mini and just can't find one anywhere at near reasonable price, so wondered about alternatives.
