I have some Vidmar cabinets that I would like to add a soft close damper to so that my carbide drills don't bang around when I close them. Has anyone done this or know of a way? Any info is appreciated.

Normally this function is built into the drawer slides themselves. I don't recall this as an option that Vidmar offers new (but it's been a few years since I looked in detail at configuring cabinets). Maybe you could buy different slides with appropriate length and weight capacity and adapt them to the drawer and frame mounting? That's often kind of difficult because of the limited available space...
Failing that, maybe glue a deep-ish strip of weak-ish open cell foam to the inside back of the frame or the outside back of the drawer, so it has to be compressed between drawer and frame when closing?

Soft closer add-ons are made for wooden drawers. Maybe they will work or maybe there is something out there more heavy duty. Try searching for soft drawer closers.

Chuck them in the dumpster.

PS: Post the address! :)

I have seen supposed soft close plungers for sale in the past, but damned if I can recall where. Whether they would work on a Vidmar bin, dunno either. But it seems like a lot of money to spend just to avoid having to take care closing the Drawer!

Rockler sells Blum soft close adapters for cabinet doors. I installed a bunch of them including a bathroom vanity. If there is room behind the drawer they probably would work and they are screw adjustable.

The problem with an add-on soft closer is there must be something to provide not only the dampening, but also to continue the force needed to close it.

This appears to be one such:

Probably more. Search for "drawer soft close".
