Hello!
I was replacing the bronze motor bushings for the Standard Electric original motor on my newly acquired South Bend 9A lathe. The gentleman had pictured the drum switch and it ran correctly. I had to dis assemble the motor to replace the bushings and thought I tagged the wires correctly but when I started it it ran backwards in the forwards position and forwards in reverse. I would be grateful for the correct wiring sequence. Presently from the switch to the motor
red is 5
black is 1
green is t4 and
white is 8

The lead numbers are not helpful without the motor's wiring diagram. From what you're reporting, you have the start winding leads reversed. You need to find out which are the start winding leads and reverse them to get the motor directions back. Or just live with it the way it is. You'll adapt pretty soon!

Hi , I am not comfortable with the reverse direction so Im posting close up pictures of the motor wires. The motor leads have 3 diameters as shown. Im not going to start changing these around untill I have some information on how not to blow up your motor. Im hoping someone can direct me on how to reverse the motor direction through seeing these 3 sets of wires.
