Stratasys Dimension uPrint Plus - head information needed

I've continued to have problems getting the support filament to load correctly in the head. Looking in the service manual it says the support head is shorter than the material head, isn't flared at the top of the inlet tube and is marked "support". Both heads in mine are the same and I'm wondering if that is the problem. Both heads only say "SR30" on them - neither says "support". Anyone one know anything about this set of heads I have?

Thanks in advance!

There is a difference between the support and model nozzles like you described, they are different lengths and if they don't line up perfectly, it can be a pain to get the material to feed into them.

Got replacement material head (used). Everything loaded 1st time with no problems. Printed for quite a while then the support disconnected from the head and curled up inside the head assembly. Priinting still continued and completed just with no additional support. If the support head was out of alignment could that cause this?

Thanks!

Yes, you have to make sure whatever side you're using lines up and the nozzle is seated up correctly. Also make sure everything is really clean behind and around the nozzle heating blocks, anything that won't let the head pivot to the model or support side will cause issues. I have had countless hours of cleaning up because the model or support material missed the nozzle and curled around it and left a huge gooey mess in the head. The main thing is make sure the head can pivot freely.

Thank you! Looks like I have some work ahead of me. None of the special tools came with the printer (it was given to me free) so I'm going to have to do a little improvising on lining up the head. I did notice that the bar that is used to "flip" which head is in use is a little bit stiff - particularly when trying to flip to the support head. I need to get that thing apart, make sure it is cleaned out really well, and then check the head alignment and that "flip"] bar movement.

There is of course the head assembly, which includes the frame, the board and the toggle head assembly. By "head" I am referring to what the Service Manual calls the head - the actual extruder with inlet tube - the "head". There are two - one for the support material and one for the model material. As per the service manual, and as per websites, eBay, etc., when the word "head" is used in conjunction with the uPrint, uPrint Plus, uPrint SE and uPrint SE Plus.
