After you dress the wheel it a good idea to get rid of the wheels sharp edges. Norton has a good book out on wheel dressing. They recommend 5 passes taking .0015” off each time you dress. Do not take any blank passes. The last pass like mentioned previously crank that diamond as fast as you can. It opens the wheel up and allows more coolant pockets, which in turn helps prevent burning. Pick up the table speed, will also prevent burning.
A couple of other things I figured out grinding 17-4A, do not pull the part off the magnet right away. Let it sit on the magnet with just residual setting. And do not blow the part off until its cool. Seems to help prevent a horseshoe.
