on peening and heating: local temperature rise during grinding can be substantial. doest this reverse the straigtening?
It can, I peripherally mentioned that earlier. Grinding away some of the stresses that have been peened in is a more significant factor though. A little heat doesn't do much unless you get to the level of heat that results in surface burning, then look out.
