I have a 7" x 12" Harbor Freight min metal lathe. This was obviously purchased in the U.S., with a 16 TPI lead screw.

I want to cut 1.5 pitch metric threads (16.9 TPI) on a 12mm bicycle axle. I need some help on how to accomplish this with this machine. Can it be accomplished with my stock gearing? If not, can someone tell me what replacement gears I'll need, and where I can purchase them?

Thanks so much
Steve

Is that a joke? If not, what specific factors determine whether a machine is professional or not? Is not the degree of professional nature purely subjective?

No it's not a joke - we don't want to read about those POS machines.

As for the basis for it, the forum owner/moderator made the rules and SO IT SHALL BE!

There are many other forums out there, discussion of those POS things always leads to shit-fights and we can do enough of those already.

Sorry but you're not going to get any sympathy or support in changing those rules. We like them.
