Has anyone seen a tilted drawer tooling cabinet like this?

When I first saw the ad I thought the picture was make with a crummy camera.

Then I suspected it's design was influenced by M.C. Escher.

Now I think it was really designed to keep your tooling from rolling around when you opened and closed the drawers?

Looks like wood drawers with a metal facade. Appears to be well-made.

Thanks

Maybe someone screwed up tooling for the manufacture and marketing said, "Heck, save the cost of making new tooling. We'll promote that as a feature of our stuff."

First guess would be for something like liquid samples in a stoppered vial or test tube. That would keep the contents away from the stopper but still allow shallow drawers. Can you make out the nameplate? That may give a clue. Certainly interesting, to say the least.

They were for printing shops. Its a Matrix cabinet. It held matrices in place.View attachment 342484View attachment 342485

Wow, that took me down a rabbit hole. Looks like a matrix cabinet. Hamilton Mfg was a large maker of such cabinets. I saw some pictures that were quite similar overall.

Here is a link to the 1905 Hamilton catalog:
