Anyone ever turn and bore 440C and or CPMS90V Stainless steel in the 58HRC range?
I have a RFQ for a ring about 1/4" thick about 1/4" wall 3"-5" dia +/-.0005 on the OD +/- .005 on ID.
Flat within .0002 Parallel within .001 OD Perpendicular to bore within.0001.
I know that I could do it on annealed material but I'm not sure about Hard Turning.
If you have done so ,what grade inserts or should it be a No Quote?
I don't need the work but it is for a very good customer and I hate to turn them down.

Thanks

Regular Carbide is fine. You're going to have trouble inspecting that part. Doesnt say anything about Roundness, but inspecting Perp to .0001" on an out of round part is like sweeping a dirt floor.
