I needed to put on 14 TPI on a 7/8 " diameter.

The Mazak Ajax Hercules requires a change of gears to perform the transposition. Not much of an imposition really

But

The with Weiler LZ330, the same selection is but a selection on the tumbler box and gear set.

Just in case anyone is interested. I'm happy to have all the change gears for both machines!

I have new(to me) lz330. I seem to have all the gears with the lathe but they weren’t installed. I would love to see a few pictures of the gears installed so I could study how the different gear trains are set up.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a 1961 LZ330 VS (with the older style QCGB), two speed motor (2/4 hp) and the coolant pump option. What you sent seems to be mostly about a completely different machine, the matador. While I concede that some of the info. crosses over between machines, I don't think the images you sent are all that relevant to my current task/question. No disrespect intended, it could very well be that I'm just ignorant regarding the subject and the answers I seek are cleverly hidden amongst the images ;-). Am I missing something in your post ??? On a side note, I sent you in a pm a week or so ago asking if you minded if i sent you specific pm questions, is that OK with you?

Oh i should have also mentioned that my particular machine does have the belt only selector for finer feeds and finishes which eliminates the gear train between the spindle and the gear box. Not sure if all older LZ type machines had this or not.

Cal here is a pic of the machine when I first got it home. Is this the same as your LZ330? So far everything has checked out within specs that I could find, everything is functioning correctly and its in pretty decent shape so I will move forward the restoration process. luckily it appears that I have all the gears referenced in the placards, now i just need some help getting those gears back on the machine correctly. They were just in a pile with many different sleeves and bushings... Its much more complex than my old SB. There is a pretty good view of the missing gear train. do you happen to have a photo like this of yours with gears installed? That's what i was really after and all I need, I can figure the rest out... that's just math ;-). It would be awesome if you had such pic of your machine that you could share ;-). BTW i have the ("not so much") English manual from lathes.co.uk , because its not all truly translated I am attempting to translate the entire doc (except parts list) into English if you are interested Ill share it when complete.
