Union vs non union shops...

Too many people here seem to think that private sector union jobs are like the government jobs. They are not even close. The lazy are in the government jobs.
In the private sector union jobs you have to produce or else you will be let go. My brother-in-law went to work as a carpenter for a union company in NYC. He only lasted there 4 weeks. He was let go because he was too slow.

The old guy at my current job worked in a union machine shop in NJ until 15 years ago before he moved in this area and came to this company. He made it as a shift supervisor and told me that if any of his guys did not produce they would be fired. The lazy do not last long in private sector unions.

Union machine shops must be very, very rare. In my area, the Navy yard and Boeing are the only union shops around.

Maybe you missed it but the TRUMP CULT MEMBERS are all totally sure that all autos build themselves and the union workers all just sit around and play cards all day or sleep in recliners that the company provides for them.

They really are that stupid and/or brainwashed.

And don't ever forget that every single non union workers works 9 hours for every 8 hour shift. Just ask them.

Hard to blame them for being envious and/or jealous of union workers.

At the end of the day less than 12% of American are in unions. Even those who have fond memories of "everyone is a union member" would be surprised thet even in the early 1980s, before automakers starting shedding plants and staff, union membership was only about 20%.

Now the really big employers in the United States typically are non-union, the only exception being government, teachers, and just a few manufacturers at this point. That's the way it is and it needs to be accepted regarding the value of unions.

Most of us have been away from working in a big union shop for years now, some going oon 20 years. Some of us may continue working in a small shop or self employed but the days of controlled chaos in big manufacturing is behind us--"fond" memories of something that does not exist anymore.

Unions good--Unions bad. Depends on a person's abilities and motivation. "Jealous of union workers"? Never.

trump cult members....

You know them. The people that believe that US Steel built six new steel mills because their cult leader lied and told them so. Even if it was a blatant lie to go along with the tens of thousands of blatant lies that trump told us.

I'm not a fan of liars or those that willingly believe lies when all evidence says they are lies.

Reality isn't always fun but it is what it is.

Actually I do enjoy working. Always have---same as many who post on Practical Machinist. Why is it Democrats hate those who work for a living, but reward those who refuse work?

Why not tell us what you believe about the topic at hand? No offense but you do not talk like someone who seeks out unbiased information.

It is evident to all that you idolize politicians. I'm sorry to tell you bud...all politicians lie!

No one literally believes that "automobiles build themselves" or that union workers do zero work all day, that's nonsense and you know it. You oversimplify and exaggerate every argument that you make and your only intent is to vilify a portion of the population who you truly know nothing about.

Just because your mind perceives something as a lie does not mean others will see it the same way. Ask how they see it and listen to what other people say - especially those who disagree with you. Keep asking questions and be respectful. After all, there is always a chance that you are wrong.
Is there not?

If you want your point of view to be taken seriously, deliver it in a clear and concise manner without emotion, insults or ridicule. If you piss people off, why would they want to listen?

Who were you when you first joined pm, before your indoctrination? Can we talk to that Big B?

I think he truly wanted six new steel mills and some big in the industry where playing along.
Not a lie but more a wish and hope. I can not hold this against him.
President of the USA does not control these things by any stretch of the imagination. At best there is try put it out public as a goal.
I am not a Trump supporter but this is bullshit armchair quarterbacking and benchracing.
I think the intent was good but not realistic.

Is it bad for POTUS to try for things are not going to work out as talked? Or is it the job to do this and push?

Now inflation. The big killer.
Suddenly the consumers have much money to spend. The supply flow can not keep up. A $2000 box is now $30,000 let alone the costs once here.
The ports are blocked why? Too much stuff. Overcome by the volume.
Somebody has to raise prices when this happens.

He didn't say that he was hoping to see US Steel build six steel mills. He said they ARE building them with no basis for it. Huge difference there. Haven't you ever watched him give a speech? He just makes shit up on the fly with no regard to the truth at all. Like a little spoiled brat child that has never been disciplined for lying.

Big B is a Democrat who needs failure in American manufacturing to keep his TDS alive. At this point I'm celebrating all the lost union jobs that allows Big B to point out he's right. Unions don't want steel production, fine by me, let China do what American unions can't. The defining event in Big B's miserable life is when he won the plant closing lottery.
