Greetings'
I have been tasked with making a urethane stripper for a re punch tool. The punch dia is .45. The 1" dia x 2" stripper will be held in place by friction.
I've a good 14" lathe with a rebuilt chuck. Never having played with this material what is the allowance for a friction fit, what speeds, feeds, tool geometry, and Anything else that will make life easier.
This is a 4k part job, never to be done again.
Right!
Any help will be appreciated.

Urethane is pretty forgiving in this application.

Drill it with a dead sharp 7/16" and you will be fine. C'bore the backside to clear the shank if it's larger and exposed.

Grease it, double-stick the top to the punch holder, and lead the punch by 1/16"-1/8".

For that many parts it wouldn't hurt to make one or two extra just in case.

Never rely soley on friction to hold a stripper.
