A VN #2 might be a WW2 vintage horizontal or a really old ram-style (or possibly a really old horizontal, about which I know nothing). This has a mounting base for a horizontal, rather than the ram-style hori/vert Van Normans. Which means it is even rarer than most VN accessories. The closeups are great, but can you add one more photo that shows the whole thing at once? We might not see another one for a decade.
And it looks like it has a quill, which is a handy feature. Drilling with the knee gets old quickly on a VN.
An accurate inside dimension of the mount will be most interesting to someone wanting to do as you did and adapt it to another machine.

I`ll get some more and better photos soon. I do fear that someone already bored it out to fit the 6" boss on the mill I purchased - but I don`t know for sure.

I also want to take off the thread protector and see what size collet it takes.

Here are more photos of the attachment & the collet receiving end with the threaded "protector" or perhaps collet closer removed. I am not sure what size or type of collet this needs or if it has been modified. I looked closer at the alignment bore and it does not seem to be modified. The quill is in nice condition and moves smoothly.

A 5V collet fits nicely and can be closed down with the ring.
