What is a Norpor wheel?

Just came across a Norton Norpor high porosity wheel: 38A46-GVP2. How is this different from a regular 38A wheel, and what is it used for?

Never heard of it, but first guess would be probably similar to a Por-Os-Way wheel. That would be an induced porosity wheel, or lower density wheel. More airspace between the grit and binder, cuts cooler, harder to load up.

Thanks for that tip. I’ve long wondered about the approach to grinding rubber.

I just got a Norton 32A46HVBEP porous wheel for grinding my chuck. Not branded as Norpor. OP’s wheel appears to be pretty similar.
