Hey guys.
Trying to hire machinist/operator.
Dropped a few posts in facebook groups.

NOTHING - NO ONE

I work all day long by myself, but have more work then just for me. Need to start building a team.
Super clean shop, new and fresh machinery, very good customers.
Trying to look for people around my town and no one seems to be interested to work at all.
I know I can pay, we can make good money and grow to a bigger team. I'm very serious about the company future and working on it every day.
Everyone asking about pay, complaining that they applied in 20 places within last month or so, and STILL DONT COME FORE AN INTERVIEW

What am I missing??

What's going on? Everyone seems to want to be truckdriver for $10k and everyone compare that salary to all other men's job? Why?

Where do you look for a good people who you can trust, who will be honest and do whatever requires to be adequate worker?

I feel bad, like I'm doing something wrong, maybe I don't understand something, maybe there is some special places where to look for people? Education places, certification centers? LinkedIn?

Help guys.

Before starting my own shop, I got most of my good job leads on Linked-In.
So you started, knowing upfront that you have these few guys who willing to work with you, trust you and dedicate themselves to be a part of your team?
Perfect scenario.
I'm from different country, and I didn't work here on any other companies and don't know much people.. Just work my way up.

Just my 2 cents. Rather than placing adds. Look around at people doing/handling a job like you would want working for you.

See what it takes to hire that individual. Start targeting folks that look promising rather then waiting on what drags through the door.

Thank you! I was thinking about it! I'll definitely try!

I think mhajicek is saying he found jobs, i.e. got hired, through LinkedIn. So maybe LinkedIn would be a better place to advertise than Facebook.

Where are you?

Exactly, This is one thing I hate about the current layout - have to jump through hoops to find where a person is. He's in Florida.

Most forums it doesn't matter but shipping a lathe is a much bigger deal than sending a photo of grandma. In this world, location is important. Imo it would be a big help to see location made easier and be enforced, like have to fill in that blank to sign up.

(And I think Hodge has a good point, a guy or girl busting ass at Bungler King is likely to be good at swapping parts and deburring stuff, too. And might even grow into a good machinist).

Yup, exactly. It was a job I got through Linked-In that got me the pay increase, the contacts, and the next level on my experience that I used to go solo.

If your in a large metro area there must be others from your former country you can network with. Very common for one nationality to support others in business as it bypasses cultural and language differences and help each other advance.

I think his point is that you may not be getting any hits because you aren't offering anything that's worthwhile for people to apply to.
Maybe. Hoe to determine what to offer a different skilled people? For ones who doesn't know what the CNC machine is and to those who's the real guy? What people pay?
