Ebay is selling off Skype as it isn't helping their core business any.

Ebay is selling-off Skype, because they bought the company, fired the CEO and the technical staff, only to find that they don't own the patents for Skype's video streaming technology - Joltid, a subsidiary owned by the ex-CEO does

Joltid filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Skype, and a lot of insiders think Skype is going to lose, so there's a lot of talk about Skype going out of business...

Ebay's quote in their SEC filing is:

"Although Skype is confident of its legal position, as with any litigation, there is the possibility of an adverse result if the matter is not resolved through negotiation..."
