Wiring Van Norman Crankshaft Grinder. Vfd's Static phase, intermediate rotary phase doubles?
have 220v 150a svc. have multiple converters going whats the play here?
Sooooooo if you are not a vfd conversions micro switches and multi motor system integrator. I don't care, If you have the solution to power this machine lets hear it whoever you are.

I have wired a few static phase converters, vfd's and a have 2 years in residential commercial electricianing ening.

I don't know how to power it. Which motors are needed when I mean what? Are there mag switches and safetys and end stops and ect I can make all the motors spin but i want most efficient cheapest safe code complaint and innovative groundbreaking new tech if possible.method.

I know you are going to know HP's and control panel specific etc.

Is this thing considered heavy iron? it's only 15k lbs.

more pics and deets coming soon.

If the machine has an oil pump ,then that starts first ,and often there is a pressure inhibit to the wheel lube for wheel start.....wheel start (depending on size ) would be the heaviest current draw .........then you start the coolant pump ...and then you are ready for crank rotation ........if you are the only one using the grinder ,then Id just have a series of push button switches .......some grinders have DC crank rotation ,not many ,most just use a small AC motor and step pullies .........if it has DC ,then there will be switchgear for the DC which can be quite complicated if it has features like reversal and "Plugging"

To operate a grinder ,you would normally have collection of 'journal spacers'......this just a bar with holes in it .......and a most essential accessory is an "Arnold Grinding Gauge " ........the other thing needed is a collection of mounted wheels trued to various fillet dimensions .......most jobbing shops would have maybe ten wheels trued to various radii already mounted to swap over..........and lots of counterweights for the crank heads too........then you are ready to start 'splitting the sparks'.

I have the Entire Arnold set up and silky smooth gauge. I rebuild watches and clocks and Will oil it with moebius rolex oils.

. Grinder was pulled from a Working environment.I will be hooking up oil pump array Immediately.

Then I will make sure all things are getting lubed.

I will let you know as soon as there is power.
features like reversal and "Plugging"

It has hydraulic jog on the grinder head and manual everything thank goodness.
Also, I don't understand the locking lead screw ball nut thing. Ill be putting pressure to the oil.

I took my manual and put it somewhere EXTREMELY EXTREMELY safe. So safe, I cant even find it!

I will run the grinding wheel on a VFD to ramp up the start time over like 12 seconds or something reasonable. slow. Also the wheel motor is only 5hp.

Go watch some of Jim's Automotive on YT showing him setting up and running his crankshaft grinder. It's not a Van Norman but essentially the same in running. Might give you a hint or two on what you need to help you out.
