Im Looking to replace my old beat down W&S #3 with another of the same, but hopefully in much better condition. Im fine wither either a round or newer square head machine. Only requirements are good to great condition and bar feeder. 208v-220v three phase preferred, but will get a transformer if needed. I'm in New England if that matters, but will ship in a good machine

Not that it helps, but I'm selling my good condition W&S SC-32. It was rebuilt and professionally retrofitted with a Fanuc 18TT control back around '97. Came from a facility that was very good with maintenance.

I have a big job coming up that is requiring me to optimize my equipment (and available space) for it. For a company that has products that can be made with this machine it would be near impossible to beat with that lower turret design.

Never mind my good chum Doc.
It's covered in dust/oil

Notice pic in post #9

It doesn't have a barf eater with it, BUT I doo have a 1" 12' magazine unit going outdoors tomorrow that could be ponied up to it if you wanted to.
You could mount it on a cheap version of Thompson rails to have it slide out of the way when not wanted as well.
(Like most 4' magazine loaders doo)

Right off of I80/I90 @ 43570

Looking at the pics a little closer, it does actually look like there is remnants of a feeder in there!
Who knew?

A little elbow grease and the dumb thing can be OEM grey again! :toetap:
Halfway there already!

bumping this back to the top, really hoping to find a newer square head m2200 to get the higher spindle speeds. I also met with my electrian this morning and the cost of adding a 440 transformer make buying one of these less appealing, so only looling for 220v machines

You would likely be hard pressed to find any non-CNC machine tool in the US at all that can't easily be wired 240 or 480 with simply swapping of some internal wires.

I'm scared of your "electrician" if he didn't relate that to you.
He must have VERY little experience in commercial electric.

However, it could be that the motor is wound for 480 only (not as predominant as a low/high voltage motor). Unless I had a couple other 480 only machines, I'd be more likely to just swap the motor to one that can be wired to 208/240.

All the machines Im looking at are not dual voltage, and I dont want to mess around with re wiring and replacing motors

Yes, sometimes when a motor gets rewound, the rebuilder may be instructed to only attach the 3 leads needed for that shop, so that someone doesn't muck it up, but that's not very often.

IDK if you are interested, but I will open the motor(s?) up on mine to see - if you want me to.

You could just add a small transformer, but I too would be more inclined to just get one that could be hooked up directly and be done with it.

They are 2 speed motors, can't be made dual voltage. At least not the ones I have had.

Well, I'll be!
This thing IS a 2sp motor!

My old one was pre-war, and it was NOT a 2sp motor.
But this one sure is.

Now, the only thing that I can find anywhere on the machine stating anything about a voltage requirement, is this tag inside the electrical cabinet. Behind the wire is "60 cy"(cycle/hrtz)

I will add some more pics to the F/S thread.
