I'm attempting to make a new lock collar and am curious why the original has the slot cut so as the depth of cut is deeper on the right side of the head ?
Did they want that side to flex more ?
Seems that they should be equal but then again the Sun seems to revolve around the Earth.
One would think it did not matter, but I have seen that same offset cut on other clamp systems before and they always favor the pull side.(side with the threaded pull-collier/nut, etc) Note on the K&T that the clamp always seems to fragment on the pull side.
County Land fill you got to be kidding, We have CNC machines all over the place but would never get rid of our K&T's, it is amazing what these old war horses can do.
