Lost in another thread was a question about wheel selection for 52100. On my Crystal Lake OD grinder I use a Norton 32A60-J5VBE. Hangstefer coolant and it cuts like butter. O.K. hard butter. Don

Used to do alot of plug gages and Morse taper centers made from 52100. Used same wheel, but in "K" hardness.

32A60K5VBE also works well on 58-62 Rc 8620. 46 grit tends to not glaze as much as the 60 grit and you can rough grind better while still getting good finish. Actually both of these wheel specs have worked well on any heat treated alloy steel. Don't know if anyone cares, but thought I'd post the info anyway.
