Thanks Ballen! I made this block to hold the diamond I found on fleabay. I think I'll chop off an inch, it's a little long. Looks like I'm on the right road! I'm going to replace the belt in it, It's stiff as a board.

Hi guys, this seems to be the vintage # place. I picked up a 612 with a # of 18890 on top of a dust collector with a #4165. Any Idea's on the Mfg dates? Thanks in advance.image1-611-.jpgimage0-610-.jpg

Looks good! Yes, shorten the diamond holder until just a bit projects out. You want it as rigid and vibration free as possible.

Dress with the diamond tip directly under the grinding wheel spindle axis. Don't dawdle, traverse across the diamond at a good clip. Take off at most 0.001" per dressing pass. Don't make a second pass with the same height setting. If you have coolant, run it while dressing. (Diamond is made of carbon and during dry dressing, the tip will turn red or white hot. You don't want to burn away the diamond too fast!
