Default Boyar Schultz 612 spindle bearings

I just picked up a BS 612 grinder. It has a good bearing whine to it so I didn't know if anyone has gone through replacing them or has any links to the process. I have done various machine spindle bearings but not a B-S 612.

    Thanks in advance

You're in luck. I posted my rebuild process here and the photos are still available:

If the bearings haven't been run too long without adequate lubrication, you may be lucky and quiet them down with relubrication.

Thank you, I have to run now but will come back and look over your link. I bought this grinder from a used dealer so it sat for a while and most likely came out of one of the many factories we once had in CT. Now most are gone, we have the worst governor in state history and presently in the country and we are taxing the shops out of business or the state. There is a lot of surplus machinery up here these days and less talent left to use them. A real shame.

I only fired the grinder up for less then a minute to check rotation and listen to it. I have to take it apart and clean it good. These were nice little grinders, just what I need and hope to bring it back.

I hope you don't mind if I ask you more questions once I actually get a chance to start on this work.

    Thanks again
    Gary
