Boyar Schultz Top Oiler Disassembly

Hello All,

I've recently acquired an old Boyar Schultz 612 Surface Grinder, and have been in the process of disassembly/cleaning. It appears that the glass & brass oiler located above the Z axis assembly, has a bit of debris inside (as well as the wick). I'd like to remove and clean it, but I'm guessing it's fairly fragile. I just figured that before I risked damaging it, I'd just ask those who have gone before me.

Has anyone removed or disassembled that top oiler, and if so how?

Thanks for you help!

Perhaps no one has attempted this before...and I didn't either. So, I took the safest method I could think of. I cut thin strips of cloth and pushed them into the oiler. Then used a small screwdriver to stick into the oiler and push the cloth around until it picked up the old oil and debris. Rinse & repeat. Literally.
