This IKO linear bearing is sitting on the tool rest of a 10" grinder.
The holding jig has to be removable from the tool rest.
Want to use it with a rotating plate on top.
Want to hold woodworking chisels up to 1 1/2" wide.
One idea: Mod the tool rest with a dovetail cut on the ouside edge and use a mating dovetailed cam lock on (under) the linear rail base to lock it in. Sort of like a quick release tripod mount.
Worked this from the inside out. The linear guide is boxed in by the white plastic.
The two brackets where not the original idea as shown in pic 1 & 2. The two upper screws were supposed to lock the fixture to the tool rest.
The end of the two upper holes had a round disc of hdpe. Did not want the screws digging into the tool rest.
I also had to shorten the screws, so the ends were cut flat..
Issue:
When screws tightened the fixture would rise up away from the flat. I removed the hdpe discs and the screw tightening moved the fixture again.
I did provide a flat on the edge of the tool rest.
Fix:
Wouldn't believe how long these brackets took to make. The direction of force now is diagonal and uses the 30 degree angle on the tool rest.
Probably using a couple of set screws would have been easier. But since the sliding jig will move on and off the tool rest will get spiked by screws.
And look uglyyyyyyyyy.
