Hi,

I'm looking for advice on what type of centerless grinding wheel would be the best to use for the bars that we grind. We work with a heat treated hardened stainless steel. I've been ordering mainly from MSC but haven't had much luck with finding anything that's worked well for us. We remove alot of stock and want a wheel that is lasting longer then what we have been getting. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows of a better site or company to order from that would be very helpful. Thank you

MSC will provide you with just about any wheel you want.
You are going to have to know grain size and type, hardness and bonds as the salesman will not.
Buying "standard" or stock wheels from anywhere is a crap shoot at best and will never give you a optimal wheel.
Step one, why does the wheel you have not last? Step two what parameter do you need to change to make it work?

Some big players in centerless grinding wheels are Radiac Abrasives | Centerless Grinding - Radiac Abrasives and Centerless Grinding Wheels | Norton Abrasives.

You want to speak to an applications engineer, and have all the data on the current wheels you're using and what shortcomings they have (don't cut quickly enough, short life, bad finish or burning, etc.). Having other info, like wheel angles, how you're dressing and balancing the wheels currently, coolant and filtering, and any other information will help a good Ap guy help you.

Is your machine in good shape? No issues with spindle bearings for grind and regulator wheels?
