Hello everybody, I am new to the site and I thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm Sam, and I work for The Churchill Machine Tool Company in Manchester, UK. We no longer manufacture new machines, but we can still source, service, repair and refurbish machine tools and grinders, obviously specialising in Churchill machines but also doing lots of work with Lumsdens, Cincinnatis and numerous others.

I've seen quite a few posts with queries about old Churchill machines, so feel free to give me a shout if there's anything I might be able to help you with. We have all of the old records for the machines we built, so with a serial number I can generally tell you the age and original purchaser of the machine. In our archives we have tens of thousands of microfilms with drawings and parts lists dating back to the 1920s, as well as electronic copies of manuals for most of the machines historically made by us. I'm also always keen to see if anyone has any pictures of old Churchills that are still in operation, so please do send them my way if you have any!

Cheers,

Sam

Does this company have any relationship with " Churchill-Atlantic " ? Just asking.

Regards Tyrone.

Hi Tyrone,

Over the years, the Churchill name was attached to a quite a few different companies as the business changed hands, merged and separated with other firms such as Herbert and a few others. Being relatively new to the company, I am still very much learning about the history and various incarnations. However, what I can tell you is that Churchill Atlantic were set up by four Churchill service engineers, and traded from around 1982 to 1997 before being bought by Newalls of Peterborough.
They then traded under the Newall name until around 2000, when they went into receivership.

Interestingly, we are still based at Atlantic Works in Old Trafford, Manchester. Whether there is any connection to the 'Churchill Atlantic' name, I don't know.

Hope this helps,

Sam
