I remembered to put one of these on my latest order:

I assume I hold it against the wheel, and on the side which will push it away, rather than suck it under.
What else do I need to know?

That a long stick can break so use with caution...angle it so it will not flip to the wheel diection or get caught in a pinch, know that it will leave a rough finish normally not good for a better/good finish, it is not the stone to just take off a glased wheel surface, it can get cracked with falling on a hard floor. It can be used to rough dress a wheel that will get a radius or angle dress so less wear on the diamond.

Drag it across the part of the wheel you want dressed or it will duplicate the stick profile if just held in one place on the wheel. Follow the advice in the above post. It can/will get hot too so be mindful of what skin it contacts like in the pocket of your pants.

Sometimes you want to cut with only the leading edge of the wheel. With a dressing stone like that, you can cut the wheel away everywhere except the leading edge very quickly. Same with side-wheeling.

Those stones are *not* just for bench grinding.
