Freeing up a stuck spindle nut

I’ve got a Boyar-Schultz 612 surface grinder, and it appears that the wheel adaptor is secured onto the spindle with a slotted nut as shown in the pic. I found a spanner wrench at MSC that will fit the slotted nut. However, the nut is seized onto the spindle and won’t budge with the wrench. Does anyone have any tips and tricks for freeing up a nut like this? The only thing I’ve tried so far is WD40. Also, I’m assuming it is right handed thread.

I appreciate any tips or advise. Thanks.

I got it free with atf/acetone mixture, a little heat, and turning it in the correct direction. (Left handed thread as stated). Thanks.

If you don't have a puller to remove the flange/hub from the taper, it's time to make one. Start with a short length of aluminium round stock. Bore a blind hole and thread the ID to screw easily over the pulling threads on the flange. Then drill and tap the blind end for a reasonable size bolt (say 1/4-20 since you are in the US) to push against the spindle.
