For anyone looking at a Sanford, note that wear is a very, very critical concern. Take the front cover off (four fasteners) and inspect the ways and vertical frame. Grind a few sample pieces. On the positive side, the machine can be broken down to manageable pieces, see the attached picture showing the main base set up to be carried by two people. The vertical frame is 95 pounds (same weight as my grand son) and I could lift it.

Another concern, the previous owner replaced the bearings, see photo, with some nice precision units. However, the Sanford is a simple machine with no shaft seals. The current bearings are not sealed units, any comments? Are these bearings going to trash themselves soon? Are they the wrong bearings?
