Hi All I have a question for the experienced guys here
I have a FG5000 Van Norman Flywheel Grinder but the grinder motor which is 5HP 3600 RPM
Went Brock but I have an almost identical spare motor the only problem is that this one is 1800 RPM could someone tell what will be the difference if I'm not wrong I think the finish
Will be rough using the 1800 RPM cuz is the same horse power then I really don't know if the grinding stone will last longer or shorter.

All comments will be highly appreciated .

Best Of All to all of you guys.

speed

The performance of the grinding wheel and quality of the finished work piece is affected by how fast the abrasive grains move over the work piece (surface speed). That speed affects surface quality, work piece burn, material removal rates, and other factors. Surface speed is calculated from the wheel diameter and rpm. You certainly will see a difference in surface finish. You may find a different wheel for the lower speed. I would call my grinding wheel provider and see what they have, they usually will have something that will work. If so you can do the swap.
