Hi guys,

We’ve got a Harig that’s rather shagged out.

Has anyone else refurbished theirs?
Does anyone know if the bearings can be replaced?

Any input will be appreciated!

If you want it back to factory specs, return it to Harig. Not cheap but it will be accurate. The bearing is loose balls. The races have to be reground. I reworked mine, but its not quite perfect.

Like most of us, budget is everything aha,

Are the race customs or can they be replaced with Standards?

I see, I did manage to find some old threads about this and that seems to be the case. I did however find that harig sell replacement ball bearings. And that the preload on the bearings seems to be rather critical to ensure accuracy. Do you reckon this is worth doing? Or just more hassle then it’s worth?

Currently, it grinds out of round by about half a thou TIR

If the race isn't bad you can buy the ball bearings and repack it yourself not too bad of a job. If you want Harig to rebuild it your looking at close to the price of a new one and IF they have a core to replace yours with your looking at a couple months. We went to have one rebuilt and their lead guy either retired or left the shop. Still they rebuild back to factory standards.
