Had a bad morning. Our Heald 72A I.D. grinder is a dead stick.

Spindle motor was gummed up.

Maintenance man disassemble and cleaned. But I believe he put power back to it before it was dry. Ran like a top for about one hour and then everything just died. Had power through the main beaker and at all relays/starters.

Override one of the relays and smoked the spindle motor. This old technology is a bit over our heads.

Got a new motor on the way and a electrician but he would like a wire diagram before he comes out.

This machine has a diagram inside the electrical cabinet but is too dirty to read/clean.

what year? serial #? we have early 70's vintage machine.

if you are in the ballpark I will get a pdf going of our machine.

years ago we retrofitted a VFD for the spindle, this was a good upgrade.

Not sure on the year.

I was able to pull two numbers off the machine.

25925 on the center of the casting after the 72A nameplate.

4142 on another tag off the main casting.

Ok-I am thinking mine dwg's would not be close. I actually have a 273A and on the panel the electrical drawing is WD 9169

S/N 45241.

My guess is your machine is much older.

I have had these guys service my machine and they are pretty good. old Heald Engineers.

I have a plain old model number 7.
I think it is a 1930s machine or
maybe older. Line shaft powered
originally I imagine.
