Hi all,

I recently happened upon this brown & sharpe magnetic parallel, and it's a design I haven't seen before. I tried searching for the model number, but didn't come up with any useful information. Can anyone advise what it's used for, and why the slots are there?

It has the model number 510a etched in the side.

Thanks in advance!

Lee

Brown & Sharpe called it an "auxiliary top plate" They were made to hold small parts on a magnetic chuck. Oh, you have it upside down. The surface you showing goes next to the chuck. Yours is called a model 510 because its 5 x 10 inches they also made a 618 and a 824

Hi SIP,

thanks for the info. I figured it might be upside down because the logo is oriented that way, but the other side is just a flat surface. But what's the purpose of the air gaps, if they go against the chuck?

Thanks
