Starting to go through a bridgeport 815 surface grinder I've had sitting around, removed the chuck and what I thought was a stray nut in the tee slot is a round boss with a plug in the bottom that if you push down on springs back up. My first surface grinder. What is that thang?

Oiling port maybe? If the ways underneath are plain (as opposed to ball bearing) ways, the odds are good.

I believe that is to get oil down into the cross feed nut.
