Per the title on the thread. We have a request where a customer is looking for .750 thick x 21" dia.

Tolerance is +/- .00004". 1 micron.

Hardened tool steel material, mid 50 rockwell C- Scale.

No specific finish.

I could grind down to hold a size/flat parallel to within +/-.0001".

If you can do this or know somebody just PM me.

Thank you in advance.

You don't specify material.

Could a surface plate calibrating company do the job? They have the means to inspect the job when done.

Updated for material- thanks for bringing this up.

Really needs to be done on a proper lapping machine. Somebody who laps can inspect to this tolerance. I have the equipment to verify.

Spec doesn't make sense to me. The material is only 3/4" thick. It's much too floppy to stay flat unless attached to a support structure. To hold this flatness in metal, you need a ribbed supporting structure like a 2' x 2' cast iron surface plate.

Yes- for the use this is a crazy tolerance, but what our customer requests.

The parts are supported and so they way they are used the tolerance is more for size that flat.
