Default New to centerless grinding looking for info

Hey everyone, so I need to get some centerless grinding done and was looking for some info. I'm having my parts sent out to be ground. The material is inconel 718. I'm wondering if there is any taper to the part will the grind follow the taper? Will the part come out round? Info would be greatly appreciated.

Depends. Throughfeed grinding produces a cylindrical part. In feed grinding can produces tapers, steps, and other features. Your grind shop is the one to ask.

Centerless grinders don't have much problem with fixing taper. Depending on how much taper (or stock in general) there is to take off the operator might take a rough pass to get all of the parts straight and consistent in diameter. There are so many Cincinnati #2OM grinders out there it's a good bet that will be what your parts are ground on. You can find the manual circa 1960 online I'm sure.
