    Hi Mark

Thanks for your various notes. J&S were not answering their phones this morning so I contacted Jubilee Machine Tools and ordered a pair of Walker seals from them at £39.95 + VAT (Now already dispatched).

I also contacted Andmar and they quoted £35.00 + VAT for ONE SINGLE SEAL with a higher shipping cost too.

Paint wise I have a local commercial supplier who mixes it to pattern. I simply took the 540 top cover and gave him his "required hour" to colour match (by Mk.1 eye ball [he does not rate colour matching machines]) and collected nine aerosols and the paint that was left from the mix he puts in a little touch up pot.

As for the painted one on eBay ... hmmmm not very impressing.

While writing, can you (or anyone) recommend a disc for a fine finish on SS302/4 and CI please.

    Thanks again for your help

    John

One thing about Covid19 ... Plenty of time to finish projects.

Piston seal changed and control panel cleaned and sprayed.

Now cleaning up tooling and accessories ...

    Keep safe folk

Tyrone, do you know if this pump is a David Brown (of tractor fame ?) made unit ? I need a couple of copper gaskets for mine and dunno where to even start to look for them. Any help gratefully received.

I worked for a company years ago that used large " David Brown " gearboxes in their product line. I mean gearboxes as big as a small room. They used their own gear type lubrication pumps that looked very much like the ones in the photo.

Give them a ring, see what they can tell you.

Sorry to reply so slowly but I've only just seen this post.

    Regards Tyrone.

    Hello John,
I have a very similar 540 although it is a little older than yours. I have no need to strip it down but I wonder if you're able to photograph the connection at the end of the piston rod to the table. Mine certainly is not configured as it should be; it has no rubber washer. I've not been able to sight one to compare so I wonder if you're able to expalin where the locknuts and washer go compared to the bolt-on end plate.

    Thanks,
    Mike
