Source for small grinding wheels

I'm finishing up some seal grooves on some pistons. I bought a tool post grinder, now I'm looking for some small wheels. 1/8" width and 1/4" mounting hole is what I need. Ideally the OD of the wheel would be 4" at least - that way I can support the part with a tailstock center. I'm guessing I won't be able to find that large an o.d. for the wheel.

I didn't see anything on Norton's or Dumore's or Themac's web sites. I found something in McMaster-Carr but those wheels were more for deburring. Any ideas for sources of small (mounting hole and width) wheels?

I'm guessing that, for thin grooves, standard procedure is to profile a wider wheel down thin enough to make the groove? Would abrasive cut-off wheels work as a grinding wheel?

Bob,

Is this a job that you only need 1 wheel for? Or is this something you will be grinding often?

Although, it is not a stock size - you can order it as a Made To Order from Norton.

4" x 1/4" x 1/8"

Hope this helps!

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you,
