I have an old B&S #3 cylindrical grinder that needs the tailstock rebuilt. I know Riten rebuilds them but I am
looking for another option. Any advise would be appreciated.
I just Googled "Machine tool rebuilders in Massachusetts" and found a few. I see this company has grinders. A few pictures of what you have. I am assuming the quill OD is worn and so is the ID of the tail-stock. Taper is ruined. You can also contact other grind shops who can grind, chrome plate, regrind, bore or hone the holes. Or sometimes it's cheaper to have a new quill made.
The bottom is no doubt worn and pointing down and will have to be machined and raised back to center line and scraped. J&M Machine Company: Engine Rebuilders Machine Tool Rebuilders - Cavco Machinery Rebuilding, CNC Retrofitting, Repair - Way grinding
