I’m new to tumbling but have heard good things if you can get the technique right. Right now I have several cast rings made from aluminum lost wax casting. I am desperately trying to get a smooth mirror finish right now it is satin.
I haven’t seen any posts on tumbling cast aluminum parts.
My process at the moment is plastic green triangles with a little bit of water as lubricant for around 5 hours, I can tell it gets it smoother but not as smooth as I would like it to be. Then after that I do walnut shells without polishing compound because I still need to pick some up. The shells without a compound don’t seem to do anything. And now my cheap harbor freight tumblr is starting to wear from all the testing. Please help.
My rings look even more dulled than when I started, any ideas? Thanks in advance.
