Now my grinder is mostly running my thoughts turn to coolant, and the associated corrosion issues.
I was thinking of putting an anticorrosion wax - like Waxoyl on the table before fitting the chuck.
Good idea / bad idea?

I've use something similar to white lithium grease. Not sure if Waxoyl is the same or similar or not... But yes, I would say use something in between the chuck mounting surface and bottom of the chuck. Just a thin layer is enough, no need to 'cake' it on...

I have just used a heavy oil. At my first shop CutMore Tool they laid on a sheet of .020 Vellum cut the same size as the chuck (plastic)....

We always had that in house because we would draw comparator templates of for a repeat form tool job.
