I have an unmarked grinding wheel, or the markings have worn off, and I'd like to determine if it is a CBN or Diamond. I mounted it and touched a broken carbide end mill to it and it ground just fine. However, I don't know what would have happened it was CBN, so I consider the test inconclusive.
The diamond wheels I'm most familiar with tend be be grayish while CBNs tend to be brownish, but not always. The wheel in question is brown on an AL hub.
Do you guys know of any way to determine what kind of wheel it is?
Thanks,
John
