1860/70s Steptoe McFarlan Lathe

To add. I dug up some info. In the Cincinnatian it tells that Steptoe was never and originator or an inventor and made a copy of the Putnam lathe. The issue was on May 14, 1917 page 6.

I like that height adjustment for the tool post.

I also note it looks like this one has dovetailed T-slots on the carriage. I have only seen similar on my Gage lathe and Lester Bowman's D. L. Harris lathe.

May just be a putnam with Steptoes Name on it?

It is made by Steptoe. A friend of mine has a nicer one.
This one had the counter shaft drive at one time.
The tool rest is Van Horn's patent of 1855.

I would not mind having it also to go with my Steptoe, McFarlan & Co. shaper, but the price is too high.
