    Open the sideways pictures on your computer and click edit. Then rotate 360 degrees until upright again then click save. They will then be vertical when you post them.

    Copied and saved to the computer, opened with 'Microsoft Photo Editor,' rotated and saved.
    Then Reply - Manage Attachments back to the PM site.I suppose any photo editor 'should'
    save photos as 'what you see is what you get'.
    Cell phones and cameras seem to save photo orientation from a fixed global horizon.
    I always open with a photo editor before downloading.

    The "sad news" is that pretty much every photo editor released within the last several years recognize the orientation information in the images and, not only presents them in the correct orientation, but most of them do not have any option for ignoring such information.

    Default VFD to drive the 1905 Bullard VBM

    Some of you suggested a VFD (variable frequency drive) to drive my old Bullard. So I
    took your advice and rushed out to purchase one. Thanks to Jeff at Coolweldstudios.com for his help with the VFD unit. I posted a few pictures of the mock-up. The shaft on the V-blocks is actually off of the Bullard. As you can see I'll have variable speeds with two different sizes of Brown & Sharpe clutches. 12" & 14" clutches matched with a 4" pulley off the motor gives me 240 & 205 rpm's on the drive shaft respectively.

    Mike, if you could inform me where you found the patent drawings it would be much appreciated.

    I found the drawings in Google Patent search . I will try and scan them and post them here. I am trying to post pic's of my Bullard, but having problems due to a new computer, but working on it. mike

    Here you go Mike. No problem doing this from my home computer but next to impossible directly from my phone.
    I'd like to see more pictures of the tensioner pulley and bracket as I am going to do the same on mine.

    To anybody that is interested in having one made, I am preparing to duplicate my 14" self-oiling friction Brown & Sharpe pulley (clutch). Please refer to the B&S machinery and tools catalog or my previous posts for pictures. I am using the one I have as a master pattern. I will be casting the entire clutch assembly with the appropriate materials as designed by Brown & Sharpe. All of the lettering and parts numbers will be transferred into the new castings. The new castings, where it's needed, will have extra material for machining. I haven't quoted a price from the foundry, but they have given me insight on preparation of the existing pulley. I also have an original B&S 12" clutch pulley that I'll be manufacturing as well. Lets see how the 14" goes.

    Default Brown & Sharpe 14" clutch

    Manufacturing Brown & Sharpe 14" heavy duty flat belt clutches. Started to make the pattern for the hub.

    Default Main Drive Train Pinion gear

    I'm still working on the restoration of this vertical mill. The latest sub project is to replace the main drive pinion within the transmission box. The existing pinion had a broken tooth and of course that can't go back into the machine. I did broach a 3/8 keyway not shown in any of the photos. I have to replace the associated drive shaft (Lower pulley cone) and bronze (C907) bushings within both lower housings.

    If you want the cushion or slip on start up you might look into the Dodge flexidyne pully. I have one on my hbm and they work very well for providing a soft start.
