This an old lathe that I have inherited from my Grandpa and neither myself nor my dad can identify it. No stamps or tags on it anywhere that we can see. Bed is about 6-8 feet and the swing is about 12-14".

Thanks for any help!

One way to determine the identity of un-marked late 19th century American lathes is to get the book

American Lathe Builders, 1810-1910, Paperback by Cope, Kenneth L.

You can turn the pages and look at the hundreds of original engraved images of lathes and try to find a match.

The site mentioned in the second post is not as complete as far as late 19th century American brands is concerned.

Or maybe one of the collectors here will recognize it and save you some work.
