Barnes lathe 4 1/2 —-asking the community about theirs......

I have a Barnes lathe 4 1/2 model. I am hoping to get replies from folks that own Barnes lathes to get accurate input therefore. I have a tailstock that has wobble side-to-side when loose but it does tighten up well enough when locked up to bed. But I just cannot get a true plan turned diameter from this lathe. I get a taper from it everytime, I can get the taper down to 0.0038”-0.0011” depending on the length of the rod, spent hours just taking measurements, setting the tailstock over and turning with a test bar and repeat. I think the play in the tailstock when locked to the bed tilts the tailstock to the side a few thousands, I think I mean I know I took measurements. Does anyone have this much play in there tailstock. Can anyone get their cut to a plan at least down to under one thousands of an inch?
