Hello:
I am looking for year-built info for a Brown & Sharpe No. 13 universal grinder. The machine's serial number is 525-13-1348. The machine is, what I believe, known as the new style machine. From what I've learned so far, B&S changed from the old style No. 13 to the new style in the mid or late 1950s. The best I have been able to do so far for determining its build year is sometime between the late 50s to around 1970.
Looking forward to any help,

Hey John Oder,
I have Serial # 525-13-2807.
It came from Kodak in Rochester NY, the Janus complex.
I am guessing it is a 1980s machine.
Could you please look my serial number up for me?
Many thanks.

You would have to find someone with a serial book that was newer than my 1975 version - which cuts off at 1967 on the B&S 13:D

Thanks anyways John.
I believe my machine was only used to grind rubber rolls
at Kodak, and not much else. I think it might have been
made around the time of the machinist's strike at Brown
& Sharpe, just a hunch. I had to correct some improper
dowel pin alignments with the gear parts and engagement
dogs for shifting speeds, but I got that sorted out well.
I did some videos of my machine on Doozer's Shop youtube
channel if you are interested. My machine has full
scraping marks everywhere on the ways, and appears to
be a super low hour machine. I believe I actually have
one of the last B&S #13 machines that they made.
