Have a 15" Lodge & Davis metal shaper for sale, located in SE Pennsylvania.
Have not found a serial number on it anywhere, but as they were only trading under this name from 1886 to 1896, it does limit the manufacturing date to that range. Call it c1890, its an oldie!
Would have been originally flat belt drive, of course, but has been fitted with a 1hp, 3-phase Reliant electric motor and magnetic starter. Drive via a 5hp Drive-All 4-speed gearbox, and petrified link-belts.
10" vise goes with it. It is operable, but needs some TLC. Have a video of it running, if your email can receive a 14Mb MP4 file.

55" long x 31" wide x 48" tall. Estimate 1100lb weight. Can load via forklift.

$300

610-459-2177 5pm, ask for Ken. Calls at other times will be presumed telemarketers.
Will be advertising it on the Philadelphia area CraigsList also.
Hopefully can find it a good home, rather than someone that will just pick the drive and vise off of it and scrap the rest.

A few more. Even if you are not buying, who doesn't like looking at old shaper pics!

Essentially the same illustration from the Lodge & Davis catalog (see attached).

Robert Lang, Could well have been made for them by Smith & Mills (I am not familiar with them), though searching VintageMachinery.org for pictures show shapers (newer?) with screw elevation and this has rack and pinion elevation.

Hit Miss Engine, half way between West Chester, PA and Wilmington, DE.
