OK, I know what it is for.... it's a level, made by Stanley, and evidently made to clamp onto a square, or other similar sized item to make a longer level.
It is not very "valuable", that is not a concern.
I am curious about its age. The few I saw online were brass, this appears to be all cast iron. I saw no comments about age. It could be any time up into the 1950s, probably, whenever they got tired of making them.
I have seen them with a patent date in 1896, this has none, likely placing it after 1913, perhaps, but I do not know.
