I have a H.L. Shepard & Co. lathe {treadle powered} made in Cin. Ohio. It is cast iron except for a wooden shelf with pegs behind the ways. The ways are 5" wide and 32" long. The lathe has red pinstriping and gold trim. It has a 3 jaw chuck about 2" in dia. and plate you could call a 4 jaw chuck. I found a H. L. Shepard living in Cin. Ohio around 1890. I am trying to find out the age of this lathe and a value. Thanks in advance.

H. L. Shepard was formed in 1875, in 1898 the name changed to Shepard Lathe Co, they contuied to make lathes until 1921. Part of a Shepard catalog is reproduced in Ken Cope's book "American Foot Power and Hand Power Machinery"
